What areas of Charleston County do you serve?

Short Answer: We serve the whole county, including Charleston, Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Folly Beach, Isle of Palms, and Johns Island, plus West Ashley, James Island, and the resort islands. Pick your area for local detail on AC repair, costs, and the conditions specific to where you live.

Charleston County runs from the open Atlantic beaches to the inland edge of the metro, and a home in one spot is not much like a home in another. Start with your area: AC repair in Charleston, Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Folly Beach, Isle of Palms, or Johns Island. We also cover West Ashley, James Island, Daniel Island, and the resort islands of Kiawah and Seabrook through Johns Island.

Who issues AC permits in Charleston County?

Short Answer: It depends on your address. Each city permits its own work: the City of Charleston, the Town of Mount Pleasant, the City of North Charleston, and the island cities of Folly Beach and Isle of Palms. Unincorporated areas go through Charleston County, and Johns Island is split between the City and the County.

This trips up out-of-town companies. Downtown Charleston adds Board of Architectural Review rules in the historic district; Mount Pleasant has its Historic District Preservation Commission for the Old Village; the barrier islands enforce strict FEMA V-zone rules with engineer-stamped plans; and on Johns Island the right office depends on the exact parcel. We check the jurisdiction before we start and fix it right the first time so an inspection does not bounce. Refrigerant work is done by technicians certified under EPA Section 608.

How much does AC repair cost in Charleston County?

Short Answer: Most AC repairs across Charleston County run about $150 to $600 after a service call to diagnose the problem. Bigger jobs like a refrigerant leak repair, compressor, or coil cost more. We give you the estimate before we start, so there are no surprises.

Typical area ranges to help you plan, not a quote. Your exact price depends on the part and your system, and we confirm it after we diagnose the unit.

If a repair climbs toward the cost of a new system, we will say so honestly, and financing is available through our financing options. For upkeep, see our VIP Maintenance Club.

How do AC conditions change across Charleston County?

Short Answer: A lot. On the barrier islands (Folly, Isle of Palms) the open-ocean salt is brutal and can cut an AC's life to 7 to 10 years. The peninsula and Mount Pleasant get harbor and marsh salt, North Charleston gets milder river air, and Johns Island sits in between. Knowing the difference is half of doing the job right.

Out on Isle of Palms and Folly Beach, ocean salt corrodes coils and electrical parts fastest, so those units need coastal-rated equipment and regular rinsing. The Charleston peninsula and Mount Pleasant take harbor and marsh salt and add historic-district rules. North Charleston, inland along the rivers, sees only mild salt, and Johns Island's marsh sits between the two. We size our advice to where you actually live, because a beach condo and a North Charleston ranch do not need the same thing. That local read is not better, just different from a one-size-fits-all chain.

Do you offer same-day and emergency AC repair across Charleston County?

Short Answer: Yes. When your AC goes out in the heat, we prioritize emergencies and work nights and weekends countywide, from the islands to the mainland. During peak summer it can take a little longer, and we will be straight with you about timing.

A hot house with kids, older family members, or pets is not something we ask you to sit on, wherever you are in the county. We move emergencies to the front of the line and give you an honest window rather than a promise we cannot keep. Request service or call (843) 723-3887.

Charleston County AC Repair FAQ

Do you work in both the incorporated cities and the unincorporated parts of Charleston County?

  • Yes. We serve the cities (Charleston, Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Folly Beach, Isle of Palms) and the unincorporated county alike, and we pull the permit through whichever authority your address falls under. Johns Island, which is split between the City and the County, is a good example of why that matters.

Can you handle historic-district homes on the Charleston peninsula?

  • Yes. Downtown work in the Old and Historic District falls under the Board of Architectural Review, so we plan outdoor equipment placement to stay screened and to the rear, then permit it correctly. Mount Pleasant's Old Village works much the same way through its Historic District Preservation Commission.

Do you service the resort islands like Kiawah and Seabrook?

  • We focus on the main county, and Kiawah and Seabrook sit just beyond Johns Island. If you need service out that way, call and we will let you know honestly whether and when we can reach you.

Do beach homes really need more AC maintenance than inland ones?

  • Yes. On Folly Beach and Isle of Palms the ocean salt corrodes a system far faster than inland air, so oceanfront units benefit from more frequent rinsing and checks. A North Charleston or West Ashley home does not need nearly as much, and we will tell you what yours actually needs.

Is financing available anywhere in Charleston County?

  • Yes. We offer financing on replacements countywide, from the peninsula to the islands to the mainland, and we size the new system to your home rather than overselling you.

Do you work on ductless and zoned systems across the county?

  • Yes. We service, repair, and replace ductless mini-splits and zoned multi-system setups, which are common in beach cottages, condos, and the larger newer homes in Mount Pleasant and on the islands.

We have served this coast since 1947, and that longevity is built on treating folks right for the long term, not on the hard sell. We read the county block by block, repair before we replace, and price honestly. We also serve neighboring Berkeley County and Dorchester County, and up the coast we cover the Grand Strand in Horry County from our Myrtle Beach office.

Creating Lasting Relationships is the idea behind all of it: do good work, tell the truth, and earn the next call.
